The multi-million dollar show is part of Create Hong Kong's 10-million dollar investment to help the design sector. This competition is organised to find creative talent for both the local and Mainland industry. Applicants may come from Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. The whole competition process will be filmed and shown on TVB Pearl.
Unlike the traditional Project Runway which only focus on fashion design, HK version will include fashion design, image design and fashion photography. It can attract more talented people to join. The application will start in the last quarter of 2009 and finals will be held early in 2010.
As the competition will be shown on TV and up to hundred thousand people will watch the show, so I think fashion retailers can take this good chance to promote themselves by sponsoring the TV show, canditates with fabric and apprael products to increase the brand awareness.
Besides, the original Project Runway takes place in Parsons School of Design. How about the HK competition? I would definitely recommend PolyU because ITC is the only one department in HK offering fashion related programs and it has good facilities, stylish studio and professional teachers.
